CYCLING great Robbie McEwen has saved the lives of two of his friends -- league internationals Mat Rogers and Matthew Johns -- after the pair collapsed from carbon monoxide poisoning at the weekend. Covers were pulled on the boat to shield the party from a looming storm "but once it had passed we didn't think to open them again," Rogers said, causing carbon monoxide from the engine exhaust to be sucked into the cockpit. Rogers, who spent the night in Gold Coast Hospital with Johns, said McEwen's high-altitude training and oxygen levels kept him awake while those around him collapsed.
