OK,

I was the *very* lanterne rouge until Ponden Mill ;-)

It rivalled Shap for the misery it induced but as you say, the descent made
it worthwhile.

Hey, I think I saw you and also the other couple with the trailer! Yes
it was me in the VC167 top heading the wrong way (the shame) I was
actually on the Spring into the Dales 110, rather than Leap into the
Aire too, though I have done both rides before. Don't worry Arthur, I
wont be cycling this weekend (well, except to test ride a second hand
Pompino I've put a deposit on, around a block a few times, before
hopefully, buying it). I am sure I'll be back on form in a month too,
but the problem is that will be too late to get the 300 done within
the time window allowed. There aren't may 300s later than the next
three weeks and though I could do a 400 instead on the last weekend
the 300 is allowed, and then do another 400 within the 400 window, it
is difficult to find events I can get to, that late on in the calendar
and doing two 400s is definitely more tiring than a 300 and a 400!
Also it would push my 600 back even further, as I'd have to find yet
another one to enter. 'Tis annoying, as I know that by the time May/
June comes along I'll be ready for a 400s and 600 again with everyone
else, but it's going to be getting this 300 done in the time window
allowed that's going to be the sticking point.

Regarding Leap into the Aire, yes that descent back into HB is great,
but it's all too easy to get carried away and miss that right turn
into Hebden though! I did that last time, screeching to a halt just
past the turn and shouting 'Oh spherical objects!' or something
similar. I was beaten at second place,by the guy behind me who
remembered to brake in time! Yeah, yeah I know it's not a race! ;- )
