3 day Northern Combine tour, 4 stages.
C-grade
Stage 1 75km, 3 laps of 25km circuit. Course is essentially flat, with a sharpish hill leading into the finish.
Pace was slow for pretty much all of the stage, apparently that was the case across all grades. Come to think of it not alot to report at all really
I decided to launch myself off the front with about 1.1km to go, getting a big gap on the field. Unfortunately I cracked going up the hill, and ended up getting 6th or 7th, not sure, thought I was beaten to 6th by a bees diaphragm. Of course 6th carries a massive 1 sec time bonus! which will mean squat going into the ITT.
At the start of the day I would have taken 6th, but in the end I'm disappointed I let the lead go so easily.
Tomorrow morning 8km ITT....aim to try and minimise the damage
afternoon 62km, with a couple of KOM points on offer (only short little hill)...but don't need to tell you all my aim for the afternoon
