Check out time at the JT Campground is 12 noon. So after breakfast and coffee (Breakfast is my
friend's priority.... coffee is mine) we decided to ride the whole switchback trail.
We started out from the campground and went up the mountain. About 3/4 of the way up is a
switchback (oddly enough) which was billed as harder than the other trail. This trail was also a
jeep trail but more like a wide single track in some areas. We averaged about 11 mph up it. It was
a great trail but not very challenging. About halfway up is a trail to the side which heads up the
mountain. It is loose but somewhat rideable. Not much up there but a nice side trip. Back down to
the main trail which continued up. Once at the top there are a couple of overlooks that highlight
the Lehigh Valley. From there you have a long downhill down what they called the "wagon trail".
This is a pretty loose downhill with "baby heads" and marble size rocks on hardpack or rock.
Tricky but fun.
At the bottom we rode back up to the campground. On the way back I had a flat which was the first
and only bike problem that could be called a mechanical.
We packed up camp and headed to Broad Mountain for more fun!
