  1. It was Jim, Frankie froglegs, Alan, Greg, Ethan, Jason and myself. We had not intended on all
riding together, half were supposed to go ride the Greenbelt and the other half were going to
Bethpage. It just so happened that we all encountered each other in the lot, so the decision was
made to group up and ride Bethpage. The Greenbelt would be too muddy for a ride after the severe
    rain from the day before.

The big flood of lights rode into Bethpage, 7 people with massive amounts of helmet mounted and bar
mounted lights. We looked like a freight train rolling down the trail. Riding into the trail, a
rather large piece of a fallen tree stuck out, I didn't see it and it caught me by my helmet and
threw me off the bike. Alan was behind me and barely had time to stop before crashing into me. Not a
good way to start a ride... We cleared up the mess and continued on.

The trail was in excellent condition. Greg had not been to Bethpage in a year or so, Ethan was
riding his new Strong 29" singlespeed (a sweet piece of work), Frank had his new Fox Fork and Jason
was a newbie, not experienced with nightriding.

Everyone rode well. The pace went from moderate to fast. The freight train rolled with precision.
Jason, the newbie, managed to hang in there, taking a few crashes along the way. We kept our eye on
him, in case he got over his head with his riding abilities.

After the ride, Jim and I split up from the group and went to go visit Mookie, at the secret spot
where we had buried him. It had been 1 week since his passing. We paid our respects to the little
guy. It was quite depressing, but at least we know he's okay where he is...

Whoa... sounds like one of those tv/movie scenes but with on horseback. I've seen a tenacious branch
catch my friend on his visor and take it off, but he didn't fall. Looked funny to me but he wasn't
    very amused.

I feel your melancholy. My meow has been staying indoors and sleeping (even at night) quite often
for the past month. I can't remember how old he is, but his behaviour makes me sort of sad and
    worried about when he'll leave.
