"Dimension" threadless handlebar stems for road and mountain bicycles

Handlebar stem could crack or break, causing rider to fall and suffer injuries.

Products: 18,000 handlebar stems sold 1/03 through 3/05 as an accessory component at bicycle specialty stores, online, and by mail order for about $25. Stems are black or silver, with 130-degree rise, and have “Dimension” painted on extension tube. Length of handlebar-stem extension varies. Recalled handlebar stems bear model number SM2330 to SM2333, SM4555 to SM4558, SM4567, or SM4570 to SM4573. Model number is printed on packaging. There has been one report of a broken handlebar stem, resulting in the rider falling and suffering minor abrasions and bruises.

What to do: Stop using product and contact a local bicycle dealer to arrange for inspection. If stem is defective, manufacturer says a new one will be installed free. For information, call Quality Bicycle Products, at 877-725-7211, or go to www.dimensionbikeproducts.com. I don't know if this has already found it's way here but here it is again anyway just in case:
