  1. I just fixed up a 25+ year-old Sanwa road bike for a friend. Shimano
600 components, never been maintained in the last 10 years, in
    incredibly good condition.

Does anybody know what the history of these bikes are? Are they
Japanese? Korean? When did they go out of production?

I did a search with no satisfactory results.

    Thanks.

  2. JP,

These where Japanese bikes imported by Wisconsin cycle, maybe other importers as well. I had one in 1980 it was a Sanwa 1001 model with shimano 600 components, dark metallic blue with red pinstripe 23" frame. Bought at City Bike Works, Wausau WI. I worked there while going to school. Great bike! I am trying to locate one. Currently riding a Trek 6700 MTB and a 1980 Peuguot Course but the Peuguot is a 25" frame and a little big for me.
