SARS and running

Thursday Wall Street Journal and "Bowling For Columbine" both stated the US media thrives an
unreality of sensationalism and fear. SARS is having its "15 minutes" run now.

Cosidering that West nile Encephilitis has claimed US 247 lives, having only reached half of the
USA, and SARS has yet to claim a US life, I worry more about West Nile. Also, West Nile is vectored
by mosquitos, a problem for outdoors types. Outdoors people have worry about Lyme, Hanta,a nd
Bubonic, all of which have taken more US lives in the past year than SARS.

Yet, major league baseball players being interviewed are "worried" and one from the KC Royals even
admitted he would rather not travel to Toronto at all given the "situation".

I read an article on the weekend, can't recall by whom, saying that the greater risk to world health
is the perception of a threat and not the threat itself.
