    The general rule with air shocks is to pump them up until they compress
    between one fifth and on quarter of their travel when you sit stationary
    with your whole weight on the bike. Obviously this is different for
    different riders, which is part of the advantage of air shocks.

    So: pump up a bit; put the bike close to the wall; put a cable tie round
    the ram of the shock; sit on the bike leaning lightly against the wall
    for balance; get off and see where the gable tie is. If it's been pushed
    more than a quarter of the length of the ram, put more air in; if it's
    been pushed less than a fifth, let some air out; repeat until it's
    right.
