Scott S30 FB : Is ittJust me?

Purchased Scott F/B S30 in Melbourne in June.
My last bike was $600 in 1990...

Up side
S30 seems fast and when its going it goes...

Down side
5 flats in 4 weeks: Replaced "f//R" hutchinson slick tyres; found they retail for $20 each.

3000km later on melbourne roads now spokes start popping. Will probably replace wheels with mavics...

Is this normal...

No it isn't normal, the flats are most probably related to your wheels so replacing them should fix both problems. Did you check where the tube was punctured? was it tire side or rim side?
