  1. Seaford, Delaware: Seaford Bicycle Race Weekend.

Here we go folks, it is 2003, and the Seaford Bicycle Race Weekend is now in its fifth(!) year. One
thing has remained the same, namely a long, hard, windy road race on Sunday. It has rained, snowed,
had 50 mph gusts, but it has always been a long road race with good competition. Preceding the
signature event, is the circuit race around the Seaford Golf Course.

All the stars have aligned this year and we have the best field ever for the Seaford Bicycle Race
Weekend. For the first time, there is going to be a professional team (Sportsbook.com), and there is
every good regional rider and team here. A quick estimate puts the total races won combined at over
500 races spread out over the 100+ riders. There are winners here and why are they at Seaford? 50
miles of circuit racing on Saturday and 103 miles on Sunday. This is the perfect spring race to get
people ready for the big races later in the season. For nationals, for state races, stage races, you
name it. If you can complete both days, you will have a leg up on the competition. If you get
popped, you know you still have some work to do over the coming months.

The teams. There are full squads from NCVC, Snow Valley, GS Mengoni, LSV/Trek, CRCA, Lite Bites,
Sportsbook.com, Bike Doctor, and Quaker City Wheelmen, led by Cat 3 sensation Big Dan Hoover. And
then there are 2-3 really good individuals from other teams. Like RAFEL URZEDOWSKI, David
Sommerville, Super Dave Osbourne, just to name a few. These are the best of what the East Coast has
to offer from Virginia to New York City.

Now there is an impressive competition growing in the B race between NCVC and First State Velo
Sport. While most of the 15 FSVS's riders hail from Northern Delaware, NCVC's large ten man squad is
equa-distant from home, just a short jaunt across the Ches. Bay Bridge. Let's call it Showdown at
High Noon. However, while these two teams make up 39% of the total field, one can not count out some
strong Cat 4's and 5's that always seem to come out of the wood work. But will team work play a
role? Conventional wisdom holds that team work never works in a Cat 4 race, what do NCVC and FSVS
    have to say about that?

As always, we appreciate everyone coming to Seaford, staying in the Holiday Inn Express, frequently
the local establishments. Make sure to check out the Seaford Guide to the local cuisine and
entertainment…it is a classic. Enjoy yourselves and be good guests.

    Cheers, Seaford Bicycle Race Weekend

Is Sommerville's notoreity gotten as far as the PA announcers?

What is better, an Albright produced race, an Avon produced race or a Laf[email protected] produced race?
