    Hi there,

    I suspect others have posted similar questions in the past, but I could
    not find the right answer yet.

    So here is my situation:
    Looking for a bike to ride in the hills of Cairns, but I am not a
    downhill racer.

    I enjoy up and down, and my current bike (Spezialized Enduro Comp) just
    feels heavy.

    So I have been looking and thinking - what do you reckon about:

    Santa Cruz Blur

    Yeti AS 575 ?

    Ellsworth Truth

    And what about Moutain Cycle Fury, Titus or other 'boutique brands'?

    What is the support like in Oz, and are these bikes really the 'all
    mountain bike'?
    Has anyone imported a bike/frame from the US and what experiences did
    you make?

    Sounds like you have money to burn!
    You definately have to do some research if that's
    the case. I'd suggest explaining what riding you
    do and what you want on www.mtbr.com or
    the aussie www.farkin.net.
    I don't think the bikes you named would be all
    that much lighter than your Specialized, but I
    could be wrong.

    It’s all in the legs in the end.
    I would recommend to list the components you like & go shopping. I prefer hardtails because you save a few grams & is good for hills & stuff. I do all my riding (road& dirt) on my MTB so hardtails is best for me.

    Disk brakes are cool but the pads can go in a year & cost a pretty penny. I once have Magura Julies that kinda dragged alittle bit, which was a drag.

    Some of the lightest MTBs I’ve even seen their owners have fitted 2x biddons, which pretty much cancels out any sort of weight saving.
