I have one heck of a time spelling French words, especially the one we use for the shifters, derailleur.

This is only half right any as half the time it is railleur-ing, or re-railleuring, and the other half de-railleur-ing.

The device with which you connect to the 'net is a MOdulater/ DEModulator, or MODEM. Therefore, I think we could safely call the shifters DEREI's (dee-rays) ir RAYDEEs.

Whaddya think?;)
 
"I'VE GOT RAYDEES!" has a somewhat unfortunate ring to it. ;)
