Shifting issues with TA rings on Campy Compact Crank?

I have a Campy compact crank, and would like to replace the stock
34/50 rings with TA 36/44 rings.

The TA rings have 110 BCD, like the Campy crank.

The TA inner ring is designed for the inner ring of a double, or
middle ring of a triple crank. The TA outer ring is pinned, and is
designed for the outer ring of double or triple cranks.

The rest of my drivetrain will be Campy. Will I experience any
shifting problems with this setup?

Thanks in advance,

Jill Waggett

I seem to remember that only Centaur have a perfect 110 BCD (Chrous
and Record have one hole slightly different?). I have Centaur and got
a great price on the 50/34. I replace the 34 for most situations with
a TA 36 and it works perfect. Regarding the 44 outer - we happily
rode for years without having ramps on the outer chain ring but it
will shift slower.

No as long as the compact crank is aluminum and not the UT design(2006
or older)..2007 and all the carbons uses an oddball 112mm bolt
diameter for the hidden bolt on all compact UT cranks.

See above. Centaur/Veloce/Mirgge for 2006 and older all had normal
110mm BCD. all carbons and all 2007 UT cranks have the hidden and
wierd 112mm hidden bolt diameter.

Just what the world needs, more proprietary/manufacturer specific
bicycle parts. :(

ack, i was even maybe going to buy myself a centaur ut compact until i
read this, thanks. 112? that's horrible!

Wellll..Campag does have other chainrings available...48, 36, 50,
34..not ideal but they are made. I think the UT design is probably the
best of the external bearing type cranks as well...whether or not they
were 'needed' for any percieved problems with square taper is the
topic of another discussion.

Probably not thrilled with DA triple either then...

yeah, it seems like probably the best of the designs to me as well,
but shimano seems reasonable as well. pinch bolts i can trust. i could
stomach the cost and limited options of using the campy 112 rings; i
just don't want to support it because i have about as much affection
for 110 as i hope to ever be able to have for such numbers.
