Shim. 8spd and Campy 9spd compatibility

I have a bike with campagnolo 9 speeds and someone gave me a set of Mavic Cosmic Aluminium (circa 1998) that has a Shimano 8 speeds cassette.

Is there any way I could fit something to use this set of wheel with my bike?

Some people told that I could buy a Mavic cassette but I don't want to spend too much. Something around 80-100 CAN$ (60-75 US$).

Just put on a shimano 9s cogset-that will work fine. Use a
shimano 9s chain(that will also be fine with the Campag 9s
stuff) for best results.
