Tryring to use an old Shimano 600 8sp
shifter with a Sora 8sp triple fd, on a
shimano 600 double crank. Just hooked
up the cable to the fd, but it's doing
some weird things. I haven't adjusted
the high or lows yet, but I'm wondering
if it's compatible because it's doing
some weird stuff. The 600 shifter is
for a double, but as I shift down from
big ring ring to small ring all of a
sudden it has 2 clicks down, and 2
movements down, like it's looking for a
3rd ring, but the shifter is an sti
shifter for a double. When I shift up,
from small ring to big ring, it only has
one click, one movement, like a double
should work. What's going on here, I
haven't gone through all the adjustments
here, with the cable and the high low
yet, but I'm wondering if the Sora
triple fd, is not double compatible,
when I thought it should be.

Could the extra click be a trim adjustment?

Yea, I guess it is. I've only fooled
with triples, so I'm not familiar with
doubles. After I got the fd in the
right place and did the high-low
adjustments, it seems like the extra
click does a trim for when it's in the
big ring, big cog arrangement, otherwise
it rubs.
