Will a Dura ace 56T chainring ( model 7410 for 8 spd ) work satisfactorily with 9 spd Ultegra setup ( 39t inner chainring ) , I'm chasing a bit of extra speed on long downhill sections in time trials . Any advice appreciated.

You are exceeding derailer spec by a few teeth, but that usually isn't an issue. A bigger small ring will work better. Shimano 'says' it should be used as a set with a 44.Being 8' speed' isn't an issue.

Thanks , big downhill means big uphill section unfortunately , I'll need the 39 & don't want to go to a wider range freewheel.
