I have a dura ace FD7400 front changer which came withthe original 6 speed SIS grouppo of 20 years ago. I wanted to pair it with dura ace 8 speed STI from a decade ago, but shimano says there's not enough cable pull. I put it together and it almost works, but I'm maybe 1-2 mm short. Has anyone gotton this combo to work with some strange cable mounting or something? If not I'll just buy a new FD on ebay! Recall that the DA 8speed rear deraillure could be made to work with other shimano shifters by mounting the cable differently. TIA.

Try mounting the front der inner wire UNDER the fixing bolt
instead of over the top of it.

Kevin Other options are Campy Ergos with the existing
freewheel & derailler.
1. Campy 10 speed levers with no modified connection.
2. 9 speed Campy levers using "HubBub" attachment of cable
to derailler. Charlie

Peter: This actually worked! At first the cable rubbed the deraillure body, but since it is a top run cable that runs thorugh a pulley, I just ran the cable through the pulley the other way and crossed the cable: perfect. Thanks again.
