Hi
ANyone advise how to reinstall fd Acera X
Front 3 type chainring - Do i need a special tool to keep fd open when i remove the cable - it wont go on top chain plaate

There are TWO ADJUSTING SCREWS on the derailleur (on top of the general "clamping" portion of the derailleur) which limit the derailleur's left-right motion by impeding a rocker arm ... the outer screw usually limits the outward swing, so ...

Use a small screwdriver to "loosen" the outer screw and see if that doesn't allow the derailleur's cage to move more ... continue to loosen the screw (1/4 turn increments) until the cage is able to move far enough to move the chain onto the outer ring.

To state what is probably obvious, if the derailleur cage is allowed to move too far in either direction, the chain will come OFF the crank.
