Hello, I have Planet X XLS bike, it has top pull and I use now FD-CX70. Want change my crankset to new GRX 46/30 and probably will have to change also FD because change in chain line.
So the question: is the new GRX FD compatible with top pull? I can't find answer on Shimano bike parts website. According to this website, FD-R8000 and FD-R7000 (so Ultegra and 105) ale dual pull, but not sure that, because didn't use them.

Based on what's shown in the online Dealer Manual (https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-GAFD001-00-ENG.pdf), the answer is no, it's not top-pull compatible. To make it work, you would need to either:
  • Install a roller low on the seat tube, as you see on some 'cross bikes. This converts top-pull to bottom-pull.
  • Install a cable stop on the seat tube, so your can run housing to the derailleur.
  • Run full-length housing.
