Does anyone out there know how to fix this problem:
My Shimano Nexus 7-spd hub has become a five-speed, shifting fine in gears one through five, but giving me something like first gear (or second?) when I attempt to shift into gears six and seven.
I have disassembled the hub (using the available exploded diagrams from Shimano's European site), regreased it using Rock'N'Roll brand grease (verified correct viscosity and drip point), adjusted the bearings/cones, installed a new shifter cable and carefully adjusted the shifter (using the barrel adjuster to align the indicator points on the cassette joint arm).
I'd be happy to take this into a shop to have the work done, if only I could find a shop that seemed to have experience working on this hub. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago, and so far have tried three LBSs, with no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
