Hiya----how much switching 'tween differant model (ie, Ultegra v. 105, Dura Ace v. Ultegra, etc) derailleurs & shifters is permitted? Is Dura Ace functionality exclusive to that group, or can you mix differant groups?

Functional-wise, assuming you are staying within speed groups, they'll all work with each other. Deraillers often can be used outside speed groups. Brakes don't give a hoot. Shifters need to match the drivetrain speed. There is a weight/quality/price differentiation, but aside from that mixin' and matchin' is no problem. Got a few mongrels in the stable myself.
