I'm interested in fitting a "MTB" 26-36-48 triple crankset and a 11-32
9-speed cassette (for example from the Shimano Deore range) to a road
bike equipped with Shimano Ultegra Ice drop bar STI shifters.
After reading http://sheldonbrown.com/speeds.html I am still confused.
If I've understood it correctly then the Ultegra STI rear shifter will
work fine with a Deore rear derailer, but an Ultegra Ice STI front
triple shifter and a Deore triple front derailer won't work together.
Is there a way to retain the use of the drop bar Ultegra Ice front
triple STI shifter and use it with a 26-36-48 crankset & matching front
derailer?
