  1. Now winter is upon us... I've seen some mixed reports on the effectiveness of the W101 shoes, but
    bought a pair all the same. So far this week I've spent about 4 hours in constant rain, and my socks
    have remained dry - I'm well impressed . I think it is important though, that your leggings,
    bib-longs or whatever overlap the neoprene cuff, to stop water running down your leg into the shoes.

    I use northwave arctic boots which are similar, and a pair of goretex hiking gaitors over them and
    under overtrousers to achieve the dryness effect.The trouble is that it has to be very cold or you
    have to go very slowly not to pour with sweat. It is worth not getting the neoprene wet ,
    though.They're a devil to dry and smell awful on the radiator.
