There's a hillclimb time trial on Sunday, March 6, at 10:00 a.m. in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. It starts at the bottom of the Switchbacks on Palos Verdes Drive and goes up to Marymount College. It's being put on by PV Cycle Center; they're supposed to post details on their web site in the next day or so. It's open to anyone and as far as I know it is free. The course record is 6:19; not sure who the pro is who holds it. The old course record was 6:38, set by Ned Overend on a mountain bike when he was 50. The local matador record holder is John H., at 6:55.

If you've never raced and want to get your feet wet without banging bars in a crit, this is a good event. If you're a super climber and want to test your time against the best, so much the better.

This is the reverse course of the hillclimb that was held yesterday, from the reservoir on Palos Verdes Drive North up to the radar domes. Report of that race at http://pvcycling.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/bloor-road-to-blue-bluff-tt-back-to-the-future/. My WKO+ power file for that race is also linked at the bottom of the post.
