I like my Assoc. Usually picked up in end of season sales. Don't know
of Polaris, but are the Nix the type of things that go over your knees?
I have got some Adidas stuff and am well pleased, so far. If the
quality and price zone of their shorts is the same as for what I've
got, I'd say they would be well worth looking for. No gaudy colours,
either.
