Should I buy this Trek 5200?

Looking to buy my first road bike; I'd like to get into racing. I'm a bit strapped for cash, so am thinking something used. I found this locally:

"Trek 5200 Frame with USPS Paint Job
-Full Dura-ace components. ( Except right brake lever which was recently replaced)
-Mavic Ksyrium SL Premium wheels with Michelin Pro 3 race tires.
-Chris King Headset
-$1500 or best offer."

Is this a reasonable choice (assuming it fits and there's no damage)? It it safe to buy a carbon frame this old? I think this bike has been raced quite a bit; is that a negative?

Any advice would be appreciated!

It's a great bike, but I would say the price is too high. Complete 5200's have been selling on ebay for less than $1000. What is the year?

It's safe to buy a carbon frame that old if you know what to look for.

Like used cars, I prefer to buy used bikes from little old ladies who only ride 20 miles a year. That being said, it might have been taken great care of by the owner. You never know until you look at the bike.
