Thanks Ozzie - I got the picture by reading the posts.

I have been quite annoyed with myself for 'giving away
power' (your expression, done it quite mildly thoug)
replying to some posts, and decided to follow to some extent
a strategy found in a movie about Merlin and King Arthur I
just saw: the villain (wicked witch) was destroyd when she
was forgotten - no need for Merlin do cast forcefull spells
or soldiers to throw axes and use spears. I shall mostly try
to ignore unnecessary hostility and foul play at
rec.running.

I really do admire you for trying to 'reach out' and 'make
contact' with Macelroy and the likes, but it seems that you
share the faith of so many tennis empires as they tried to
do the same with John McEnroe :o)

However, in the post-WTCx2 era we live in ignorance can only
get you so far, and my ethics do include some principles
which in fact deny me the choice of placing 'I'm here JUST
to educate myself' as the starting point (poor expression,
language barrier kicking in) in face off foul play (at
rec.running). By saying this I by no means try to undermine
or belittle your views, for they contain great human insight
and wisdom, but I found myself asking if such an approach is
realistic enough in the world 'I'/'We' live in, and thus in
rec.running - virtual world as it may be. Is ignorance
really enough? And if not, what is?

I really wish I could share my thoughts about this subject
in my own language, because I fear a lot is waisted both
ways in the translation process, so I'll pause here. I don't
know if you get what I'am after - but that's dialogue,
there's always a chance for you and me to question, evaluate
and learn like you've stated.

Dialogue is what keeps (for example) rec.running alive. My
experience in running is so little and new that I can
educate myself and others mainly by just asking questions -
but I have to believe that sometimes a good question is more
valuable than a good answer.

It's 2 am, I'm anxious from long run 8 hrs ago and can't
sleep. I'll hit the sack now, hope this 'posting exercise'
helps me to join my wife and sons in the dream land where we
all could be as one. Even Macelroy.

PS. Just a thought: perhaps the idea of 'giving away power'
when reacting to foul play is somewhat vague and thus
unacceptable/difficult to me causing the difference in
our thinking?
