Maybe this is common knowledge? A cheap plastic shower cap fits perfectly over a helmet and visor. It fits tight and does not interfere with the straps. It blocks the wind and rain. Some air gets in under the helmet rim, so it is not too hot and there is not much condensation. The little condensation is way up above the head, over the helmet and on the shower cap. I don't know yet how long they last, but for 99 cents US, I'm risking the investment.

Yes, you're right, many people know this already. I've been using either a shower cap or a Glad bowl cover for years. I don't care if they get lost, I always carry extras and they are cheap.

Down side: most of our heat comes off our heat, so you can collect a lot of moisture and heat on warm days. Also, they look really stupid so you get lots of strange looks from passers-by.

No only cheap, but the styling options are endless. Prints, wild colors, transparent. I even found a shower cap in high visibility yellow, but I overpaid at 2 bucks!:p
