Howdy-
Hope this isn't too simple a question, but I have been enjoying my Haro
V1 over the past couple of months, commuting to school and so forth. I
finally decided to invest in a rear rack, so I could carry a trunk bag
and possibly eventually panniers on the bike.
I bought an Ascent City Rack from Nashbar, which of course has no
mounting instructions. I have a couple of questions:
1) First, it seems like the rack is too narrow for the width of the
seat stay down near the hub... do I need to purchase a different /
larger rack? It seems like most are listed as "universal fit" but do I
need one for a mountain bike?
2) There are two threaded holes on the end of the seat stays near the
hub, but on the derailleur side, it seems like the gears come too close
to the threaded hole for it to be functional. There are also two small
threaded holes further up the seat stay, on the interior aspect of the
stays, but the screws supplied don't fit. They seem very small, but I
suppose they might be for rack mounting - although it seems like the
rack would be elevated too high at that point.
Anyway, before I beat my head against the wall any more, is it
something as simple as the rack not fitting the bike, or am I missing
something?
Thanks!
