Simplex Bar End shifters/Demultiplicator Questions

The standard controls of the fifties/sixties were designed
around 4-5-6- speed freewheels. You may run out of lever
travel with 8 but try it first.

The demultiplicator is just an asymmetric bell crank to
change the leverage/cable travel. I never saw one on a
single, they were intended for tandems to help a long sloppy
shift wire/casing to be more crisp.

I don't know about the diameter of the demultiplicator on a
shift boss (don't have one handy) but sounds reasonable. Try
it but remember that French metric bolts are coarser - use a
standard m5 x 0.8 bolt in your shift boss.

Same basic idea as the Suntour bar end control, same cable
travel, etc. The Suntour shifter has those clever ratchets
and a more positive mount.

I'm sorry to respond to my own reply but after you get the
demultiplictaor on a shift boss, what are you going to do
with it? I can't imagine a useful cable route from there.
