I'd check with the manufacturer of your fork - sometimes these have a
maximum recommended size. I imagine that is partly due to the amount of
braking stress but also the position where the caliper can be fitted.

Unless you are doing alpine downhills there's no point in an 8 inch
rotor; you aren't going to get fade on a 6 inch one on any hill in
Britain. Of course, if you think 8 inch looks cooler, that's up to you.

I weigh 80kg and have been using a 165mm front, 180mm rear with Mini Monos
for a year and have had no problems descending in the Lake district, Peak
district and various Welsh venues in all weathers using the standard
sintered pads.
A lighter friend fitted some unsintered (organic?) pads to the rear of his
original Minis and cooked 'em good and proper descending from Walna Scar
Road into Coniston, be warned!
