Ski lifts for MTBing

I'm new to the sport. Am having a great time. Used to ride my Schwinn
sting ray on nearby trails... but 35 years ago we didn't call it singletrack
then :)

Anyway, I hear that some places use ski lifts to push the MTBers up the
hill... .then downhill from there.
What are some southwestern US places that do this?

Big Bear just closed all their lift serve trails.

Of course they're closed right now, they're
covered with snow.

Big Bear shut down riding while using long
travel/DH frames but they still offer lift service
for "XC" riders.

Has something changed recently so that all riding
is no banned?

What do they have, some guy standing at the head of the lift line
saying, "That bike is okay/That bike's not allowed?"

Scott
"Guns don't kill people. I kill people."
