slow heart rate

Sounds like vaso-vagal syncope. This is brought on by both predisposition and environmental factors
such as dehydration and excessive standing. Her doctor(s) should be able to advise her on what to do
to prevent future episodes of this.

In the electrophysiology office that I work we see many patients in our syncope clinic.
Neurocardiogenic syncope is one of the most common forms of syncope in young adults. Usually our
work up includes, tilt table test, 30 day event recorder, EKG and ordered at the consultation. Have
your daughter see a specialist in this area to rule it in or out.

to dr. chung and complex, thank you for the information regarding my daughter's low heart rate. Last
spring when she passed out, she had an ekg and they found no problems. She just told me they
diagnosed the problem as vaso vegal syncope.

She is scheduled now for an eeg but has to wait until the end of January. She was not put on a
tilting table or tested in any other way except the ekg.

she lives in arizona as does most of my family. I am not impressed with the medical care my family
is getting there when it comes to scheduling appointments and tests. Some of them have never been
seen by a doctor but are referred to a nurse who makes the diagnosis.
