so happy, I brought my 1st road bike, Vivace Avanti,

good weather today and I will head straight for a ride in Centennial Park right after I finish work today.

Nice one! Let us know how it goes! :p

Did you test ride many other road bikes? Cos thats the stage im up to now...

Centennial Park! I guess you live in Sydney. Might want to try the Cook River Cycleway during the weekend, if you are not that keen on riding on the roads alongside the crazy dirvers.pretty decent ride from Botany Bay all the way to Ryde of Parramatta via Olympic Park... good luck

Auctually I test drive quite few different bikes in this month.

- Specialised Allez Elite Double
I just borrow this off from my friends for two weeks and keep riding on it, it's a really good bike, very light weight, with 105 set on it.

Very good bike. But it is way over my budget.

and another thing is the Vivace Avanti got some very similar setting (should be around the same weight) as the Allez ... that's why I go for the Vivace as I believed it does coming with better money value.

- Trek 1000
Also I test drive on the Trek 1000, but my impression is not so good on this entry model, especiall on the gear shifter. It can only work efficiently up on the horn position. You can upshift over the drop position.

And I also try on a couple of "flat bar road bike by Trek. But obviously they are not my choice after the ride, even those $25xx model. They are very light or even better than Trek 1000, but the upright position is just not right for me. You can even feel the wind is massing up the aerodynamic. dramatically slowing me down.

Anyway, gotta head off soon.

I just went for a 30km trip yesterday, from Kingsford => Airport => Brighton Le Sand, very nice ride!!

both of myself and my friend also have the same feeling, my Vivace seems a bit lighter than the Allez. But the most obvious different is the Vivace is actually more responsive to every single pedaling.

So far I am still very very happy with the Vivace, 46km/h is easily done on that, without a bike shoes yesterday, but don't have to push really hard to get that speed. I am still a happy man:D

Welcome to the road. When you have got the time, you could try riding all the way to Kernell, from Kingsford I'd guess that it was 60 something K return.

Save up for those shoes, once you have had them you will never go back.

gotta keep practicing, coz I really wanna do a longer trip like 50 to 60km ... but I really wanna make sure I can make it before I go on the trip

I did some practice on the shoes in this week, coz I wanna make sure I can get rid of the clip in any emergency circumstances ... I fall once in my car park ... anyway, after I week practice, I am quite confidence to go on road now

feeling really good on this bike!

That's very true!!! once I put on the shoes, I can never go back without it! :p

A bit of practice and you'll be there! The kilometers become shorter with practice.

Pick a nice sunny winter day, take a friend with you and take some lunch to eat at captain cook park. Except for the boring bit thru the industural park, it will be a nice day.

Hope I can join in the big ride with you guys on day

I commute, Ashfield to work. Work location varies as far north as Chatswood and South as Mascot, currently the CBD. Once a week I do a long ride 60 - 80k and have just started club riding after doing about 10 long rides over the last 4 months. This week I did an extra long ride on Anzac day. There's a 100k hill ride on the first Saturday of the month and that's my next challenge. Don't we love to raise the bar ah. It was only last September that I did my first long ride, Ashfield 5.15am to Kernell, return to Mascot 8.02am (work). Now I'm hanging onto the back of blokes who race.

O... sounds cool!!!

I am working in North Ryde and living in Kingsford, spending most of my time in the traffic with my car .... x.x"

Just went on the trainer for 45 mins ... normally after I get back home, it's all dark in winter ... can only stay on the trainer during the weekdays now :(
