Now that the UCI has stripped LA of his Tour victories, which riders will inherit the mantle of TdF winners for the missing years?

They will most likely stay un-awarded. It would however be cool to re-run those races with the original riders. Those were exciting years despite all the scandals.

1996 to 2007 has no TDF winner.

Can we award those years races to Indurain/img/vbsmilies/smilies/biggrin.gif

According to Prudhomme you just can't get a yellow. Not for the missing years (clean or not)

Well with the fact that most of the 2nd and 3rd place have been banned or ar currently under investigation, and the fact that the governing commission stated that it will be like those 7 years never happened, no yellows will be awarded.

Perhaps they should just nullify all past race results given the concerns over previous doping and start afresh. Sort of a BC (Before Crisis/Coke) and AD (After Doping). In AD we start afresh :->

Actually they just changed it and they stated that they will announce the decision for winners, and also if he will have to pay the winnings back and also if proceedings on the doctor and others will happen on Friday.

    What a clusterf...

    FUBAR.

    Idiots.

They're cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

And now they're claiming Lance was a roid-rager...errrr....bully. And that he may have to pay back the prize winnings--which would be chump change for him, I'm sure. By far, I'm sure his wealth has been derived from endorsement deals, and there is no way that those companies could argue that he owes them that money back since lucrative endorsements are based on an increase in sales over a fairly short time period.

At some point, the UCI is going to have to get off its high horse and admit that it has been essentially incompetent in terms of keeping the TdF clean. Having a huge block of vacated and/or reassigned wins from a decade ago doesn't help. Going after years-old offenses doesn't work in the criminal justice system, either, but apparently UCI hasn't figured that out. That's why most crimes have statutes of limitations.

Mcquaid has a point. Most if not all the USADA finding were not on his watch.

The question that I have is the two tours for Cantador while at Astana since Bruyneel was at the helm. That makes is interesting. It would also be a life time since he has one strike.

yes, he has a point--right on the end of the pen he used to endorse those cheques from armstrong. besides, he's right, as long as you forget landis, contadore, rasmussen, the cobra, a beijing gold medal being taken back due to doping and so many others who didn't appear in the usada report. yep, just have to grant old pat that point, cycling sure hasn't had a black eye on his watch.
