Soccer versus Cycling

Remember in the old days (last year) when the Tour would be shown on SBS at
7 pm?
Well now it's at 6 pm and the normal sport (soccer) is still on at 7pm. Goes
to show the strength of the soccer lobby I suppose.
I was going to watch the Tour highlights at 6 pm and then go out for a night
time training ride, but then I spotted the Deep Purple Documentry at 7:30
pm. What do I do? Skip the training ride or buy a video recorder?

And if you'da told me 25 years ago that Smoke On The Water would be the
subject of a documentry I wouldna believed you. (If you ever get a chance to
make a pilgrimage to Montreux you should, it's a wonderful place.)

Ride in front of the TV on a home trainer??

The Deep Purple doco is excellent by the way. I seriously hope that they make
some more of this series as I think this one is on its third rotation!!

The Machine Head album was the first record (remember those? Big black flat
round things with a long spiral scratch on it,) I ever bought. That music is
hardwired into my brain. I've seen a few shows at the "new" Casino. (Saw the
original Blues brothers Band there.) Slept on a bench in the railway station
in Montreux and was awoken by two policemen in the morning. Lost my passport
at a three night rock concert at nearby Leysin. Great fun!

Remember them? I STILL buy them! :p

My Dad had "Made in Japan" double 12" and I found it one day.. It was
then flogged to death by myself and my brothers for the next 15 years..

I have since bought my own copy along with some of their other albums :)

Ahh yes, that's the live show where you can hear someone say at the start "
Make everything louder than everything else"

Yeah! and the singer "duels" with the guitarist.. Love it! :)

I may or may not be listening to an mp3 of the 19 minute version of
Space Truckin' right now...

The only thing that could've made Made in Japan better would be
the inclusion of the live version of Black Night which I had to
buy on another album that included live tracks (name escapes..
google will know)
