    1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
    3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla
    4/2 tsp almond extract 2 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp cream of tartar
    5/2 tsp baking soda
    6/4 tsp salt
    7/4 tsp ground nutmeg Frosting: 3 cup confectioner's sugar
    8/4 cup butter (no substitutes), softened 1 tsp almond extract 2 Tbsps hot water - to 4 Tbsp food
    coloring, optional

    In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Combine the
    flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture. Drop by
    rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 3500 for 8-10 minutes or
    until light golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

    For frosting, in a bowl, combine confectioner's sugar, butter, almond extract and enough water to
    achieve desired consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired. Frost the cookies.
