Sonora Pass elevation profile can be found here: geocities.comsonoraOpen ↗ I
know the signs approaching the pass say there is a 26% grade but it must be a very short segment.
The sign on the West side indicates it will be a descent. The sign on the East side indicates an
ascent so the 26% part must be on the East side and there are a couple steep hairpin turns on the
East side. I have plotted the grade as the average for 6 minute intervals. Since I was climbing
about 2200 ft/hr, this would be the average grade for about every 220 feet of climb.
