Source for SKS Fender Stay Caps

Could you possibly use some of that "dipping" compound that's
advertised for dipping your wrench handles into? Cover the fender
stay with wax or crisco, dip it, wait til it dries, dip it again, then
after drying, peel it away and reinstall the stay on the bike, and
place the newly created rubber cap onto the stay ??

I use the vinyl caps that I remove from the hooks on the cheap wire
coat hangers purchased from Target stores; they are white but they work
just fine. Alternatively, you can purchase appropriately sizes vacuum
caps from an auto parts store. Try a little hairspray or a bit of clear
nail polish to glue whatever you use as a cap securely onto the ends of
the stays.

That's what I was thinking, the existing caps look liek they're formed by
pretty much that process. I actually don't think you need wax or crisco,
you need to get it as clean as possible. When you eventually want to
remove it again, it'll probably come off anyway.
