Specialized Body Geometry Shoes.

My LBS just sold me a pair of Specialized Comp Road Body Geometry Shoes. The price was good and they fit well. I checked online and it seems these shoes are orthopedic in nature and may not be appropriate for all riders. Any feedback on your experience with these shoes is appreciated.

I have been riding on a pair of Specialized Comp Carbon Road Shoes for about 1,000 miles now and have no complaints. I noticed early on that they do tend to steer my feet into a certain pedaling position and posture, but it quickly became a good feel for efficiency, just as they say their design will do. I have no hot spots or numbness or fit issues. They really are a purchase that I would make again.

After inspecting a pair of Specialised BG shoes, no LBS had my size, I modified my Shimaos.

I filled in the holes in the inside of the soles with polyester filler and made a smooth finish, covering the cleat plates, similar to the Specialised shoes. This has given me a more comfortable fit and no more hot spots above the cleats.

The specialized shoes are very comfortable. I wouldn't say they are overly orthodic but have a mound situalted in the soft fleshy part of your foot that seems to balance the entire pressure of the foot out. So it helps keep the pressure off directly on the balls. I just got next years new carbon soled one and it is the best shoe I have ever ridden. I used to have problems with overly stiff shoes, but none at all with these. I attribute that to the body geometry sole.

I have the Specialized Body Geometry Comp mountain bike shoes. I have no idea if I'm a pronator or supinator (I think I'm neutral), but have found the shoes to be very comfortable. No complaints so far (had them for about a year). Definitely better for riding than my old Cannondale sneaker-like shoes.

I purchased mine about 1500 miles ago. I love them. I did notice a change in my foot position, but also noticed an increase in efficency. After about a week I was riding about 20/100 miles further without any foot pain/numbness. I especially like the higher arch support. As they say you either love them or hate them. If you tried them on in the store and liked the feel, then you should have no problems.

I have been riding on SIDI Genius 4s for 3 years now. On rides over 85 miles I do get some serious hot spots. Has anybody had the opportunity to compare the SIDIs with the Specialized's. I am considering changing.

Another question for those who have these shoes. Have you experienced a lot of wear on the heel plates. These are replacable on the SIDIs, but don't seem to be on the Specializeds.

This is good information - thanks! I am getting ready to choose some new shoes, and I am looking at Sidi, Specialized and Pearl Izumi. I had been leaning towards Specialized, now even more so. The other thing I need to decide is whether to spring for the carbon sole...

About a thousand miles and all is well. Try them on in the store and if the orthotic feels good to you, you should be good to go. My experience is the same as the others, no hot spots etc.. My feet are a bit norrow and for me they just felt more comfortable on my feet than the SIDI's, Carnac's and every other shoe I'd tried on, it was not a price issue.

I have a pair of Sidi Genius 4 megas for the road and a pair of Specialized BG Mountain shoes. The Sidi's are without a doubt the most comfortable road shoe I have ever had. I have a wide EE foot, so their is not a lot of options out their. The Specialized BGs are great too, but do feel different because of the orthotic fit. It gives a full foot contact feel to the shoe and on into the pedal. Kind of like everything your putting out goes into the pedal. I have noticed that the Specialized does seem to make my pedal stroke more consistant by keeping my knee moving straight up and down over my foot. This has me contemplating corrective orthotics for the Sidis.

Hello all, I originated this post. I went back to the LBS and upgraded to the Comp Carbon Road Shoe. It is lighter, and is even more comfortable than the standard comp road shoe. I rode with the shoes today. My original concern about the orthotics being built into built into the "Body Geometry Shoes" faded after a solid, comfortable ride. I am very pleased with the shoes.

Which cleats and pedals are you using with these new shoes?

I am using Look PP-396 (2004) with red ARC cleats. I picked them up from www. supergo.com for $79.00. Seemed like a pretty good price to me. This is my first set of clipless. The first clip-in was a bit awkward, but now they action is very natural. The system is really great. Of course, I comparing them to the cages I've been using. Still, what a difference!

Good news! I had a question: did you compare the Comp Road Shoe with the Pro Road Shoe? Just curious if you had any thoughts. It seems like the biggest difference is the Ratchet Buckle on the Pros.

I have the Specialized Pro carbon road shoes (2004) and they are incredibly comfortable and light. I first tried on their lower end road shoe and then their pro. The Pro carbon shoes fit like a fine leather glove, and are far better then the diadora's I had come from. There is a major comfor difference between the low and high end Specialized shoes. IMHO it is worth the 120 dollar price difference. Best thing i've ever done for myself in my 3 year riding career

Good news! I had a question: did you compare the Comp Road Shoe with the Pro Road Shoe? Just curious if you had any thoughts. It seems like the biggest difference is the Ratchet Buckle on the Pros.

I did not try the Pro shoes. The first shoes I had originally picked out, the non-carbon comp road shoe had the ratchet buckle. Very cool. The strap and ratcheting mechanism are both replacable. I switched to the lighter carbon comp road shoe. It did not have the ratchet, but it worked out since I also compete occasionally in triathalons. Though I think triathalon purests would say the three strap shoes I picked out are a bad choice, since there are tri shoes available with just one strap. Anyhow, the carbon sole and ratchet combo sounds great. If I were Donald Trump I would own several pairs of shoes.
