Short of sending it back to Specialized for evaluation and/or repair, buy a new or used frame.

Already got a SC chameloen. The Stumpy is scrap pretty much. Specialized use a crash frame replacement policy where they will discount a new frame 40% if I send them the damaged one. problem is the 2006 Sumpjumper hard tail retails at £500!! So i can get a new one for £300! (I cant beleive an aluminuim frame built by robots can retail at £500?). I can get a Giant XTC Aluminuim brand new for £180.

Im not interested in getting a new frame from specialized or Giant, however I believethe specialized policy is very good.

I am treating this as a testing ground for repairing an Aluminuim frame, I have a friend who deals exclusively with Alloys, Aluminuim tubing and TIG welding who believes he can repair the frame. Before we start on this process we need as much info on the frame material and any processes involved.

It would also be very benificial to get a replacement top tube from the OEM, hence why I would like to find out which Taiwanese comapny builds the Specialized frames.
