Friends,I am buing new MTB. I am riding normal, standard tourist trips, no free rides, no jumps, just off-road cycletourism.

I am pretty heavy person, 125 kg at 198 cm (about 280 pounds at 6.5 feet).

After some searching I found these two bikes as a final choice:

Specialized Rockhopper Disc
GT
Avalanche Expert

Equipment and price and my sympathy are same on both bikes. What is different, is frame and its material.

Rockhopper is based on M4 material what I heard is pretty strong and durable material, used mainly at more epxensive Specs. More about specification of frame is at http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=22180&bikeTab=features

Avalanche is based on "only" material 6061, but it is Triple Triangle geometry what seems to be also pretty durable and strong. More at http://www.gtbikes.com/mountain/catalog/detail.php?id=2681&country=int&brand=moun

Question: Not looking on price and equipment, what would you recommend for me, heavy, bulky man? Thank you.
