I am looking at buying either the 2010 or 2011 version of the Specialized Roubaix Pro or Trek Madone 5.9. I hear that the new roubaixs are more responsive than in the past. I need some dampening (due to two herniated discs), but do not want to give up handling. Any input would be very helpful!

I have a 2010 Series 6 Trek Madone. I really like how it rides and handles. I have no experience with the Specialized, but I have certainly heard nothing negative about it. The Madone 5.9 for 2011 sounds like a good deal. If I were buying now, I might buy the 2011 5.9 instead of a 2011 Series 6, but who knows.
I have not been much help, but I would think that both the Trek and the Specialized would be great bikes.
