Seaford Circuit Race 2003 Saturday, April 12, 2003

In their first East Coast race, Sportsbook.com came up with a victory. Ryan Oelkers outsprinted the
field in the 50 mile circuit race, which is the first of two races in the Seaford Bicycle Race
Weekend. Predictably, with the good weather, the ended in a field sprint. Only on a windy day, which
is quite frequent in Seaford, riders are forced to choose between the gutter and the wind as they
circumnavigate the Seaford Golf Course. The only one disappointed by the calm conditions was the
promoter who likes hard races were only a handful of riders finish.

With attacks throughout the race, getting no more than a handful of seconds, one brief attack toward
the end of the race did hold promise. Mike Miller (Carerra) and Dean Rittenhouse (Lites bites) got
away for several laps, however, with the field hot, it was not to be.

The 8 member Sportsbook.com squad took control with 5 laps
to go, which conventional wisdom would have as being too early. Snow Valley took over with little
more than a lap to go. However, with the help of the very experienced Matt Svatek, Oelkers and Adam
Myerson got themselves to the front by the last turn. With just 200m to go, Oelkers came out of the
turn and held it to the finish. Cameron Holland rewarded Snow Valley's team tactics with a sprinted
clearly for second. So, the two teams that controlled the race at the end got the top two spots.

Adam Pantastico (Navigators), and Mark "I" Light often a top sprint finisher did indeed, and got
fourth. Casas from Maryland's Artmeis squad got 5th. Other top ten finishers, noticed good New
Jersey ( Jurandir de Almedia), Maryland (Pedro Hijar), and Virgina (Brent Arthurs) riders in 6th,
7th, and 8th riders. Bill "Curious" Elliston (Ideal Tile) came out of retirement for 9th, and
rounding out the top ten was always-strongman Zach Browne (NCVC). All those riders scored points for
the omnium, which will be resolved tommorrow at the Boys and Girls Club road race. Seeyabye.

The "B" race is a proving guard for new riders to the sport. The 35 mile race is a bit more than
most riders are accustomed to. However, the field exculpated itself quite well. There was good
strategical racing and no crashes. The longer distance allowed them to prove that there is good
racing to be had in a Cat 4/5 race.

Numerous attacks were noted throughout the race. Notably, Tim Dowlin (FSVS) and (Franz Martin
(Flyers) were away for 3 laps in the middle of the race. Hailing from New york, Kissena's Charles La
Punzina and Rob Panzera were off for awhile; in fact Rob Panzera was consistenly at the front for
much of the race.

Jeremey Genten (Ocean Velo Club) was off with Stewart Kidston (Evolution) with 3 laps to go. This
duo stayed away until the closing laps, with Wayne Scott (FSVS) chasing hard.

By 2 laps to go Kidston lead was only 30 meters with Ncvc's Servio Medina chasing hard.

By the finish it was all together with Franz Martin of the Flyer's holding off the field for the
win. Rob Holt rewarded NCVC with a second and Mark Izhak Kissena with a third. Mark Kerlin (Lantern
Rouge) and another Kissena (Noah Greenhil) was fifth. As always, anything can happen with a 68 mile
road race tommorrow
