Ugh.....10 days ago I developed a sore throat that morphed into a dandy headcold and cough. Finally went to the MD on Thursday night and got a steroid nasal spray to help open up the sinuses with the advice to return next week if it doesn`t calm down. Might need an antibiotic.

Drat...one month away from the first race of the season and my training gets shut down. That nasty necessity called work had priority and at nights I just dragged myself to bed.

That said today was too damn nice to not ride so I got in a 70K moderately paced ride with a gal who had a wonky knee and another who was doing her first ride of the year. That sure helped clear out the head!

So it looks like there will be a faster training ride tomorrow so I had a question.......... what`s the deal about cycling with a cold/cough/flu etc? I certainly don`t want to set myself back but if I don`t start getting some riding in I may lose my mind.

Any advice on the subject is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've been sick the past week with a cold/flu type thing. On top of that an ear infection.

I thought I was in the clean once the warm weather came, I was wrong.

I can sympathise! I had pretty much the same symptoms but the ear infection was a real drag, all I could do for a whole week was drive to work and home again then straight to bed..it affected my whole Body...

Anyway, I went to my MD who refered me to an ENT specialist, on my way there the next day they called an cancelled on me

Out of sheer desperation I went to the ER, they irrigated my ear and within half an hour I felt great again!! Apparently an ear infection should be attended to asap otherwise permanent hearing damage can follow...they gave me a prescription for antibiotics but I didn't need them...

    Hope you feel better soon!!

Oh well....like they say...."Misery loves company." LOL. ;)

It`s awesome this morning......cool at 4C but the sun is shining. I guess the ride is heading out at 10AM.

Sickness be damned......after yesterday`s ride I don`t feel any worse and did sleep well last night. Coffee and steroids to get the sinuses draining and I`m outta here.

BTW - OLN CANADA is televising Paris - Robaix(sp?) today at 6pm...things can`t be so bad! :D
