Sprint Drills

Last year, my sprint form was pretty bad. I'm sure I looked pretty odd flailing away atop the brake hoods and bouncing the rear wheel, even though my speed was decent. This year, in addition to working on my short-term power, I'd like to improve my sprint technique as well. Does anyone have a favorite 'Sprint Drill' for improving sprint form and getting that top-end kick?

motor pace ..but with a Van ..Like a VW vanagon

WARNING THIS IS DANGEROUS for inexperienced

Flat wide road no traffic

open the rear hatch and you can see through the van

35 mph or what ever you can do

Now staying behind the van is easy ...you need to jump hard and come around the van (driverside ) and back down the pass side and
the hard part get back in the draft ....try to recover ..repeat

do this once a week for 45 - 60 min if you do it right you cannot do more than 10

I go from around 250 watts to 1500 watts the 550 -600 in front of the van
then down from there untill I try to get the draft then 500- 600 again

RPM's depend on gearing

Is that what Jan Ulrich was doing before the last TdF when he crashed into the team wagon?

Actually, that workout sounds pretty cool if I had someone besides my wife to drive the van. ;)

I doubt Jan would come around the car he is not a sprinter

he motor paces for the intensity and surging @ speed in a big gear

here in Austin we have a LOT of pro's stay through the year not just the big
TEAM lance

I cannot tell you how many times I have been training and a subaru
has come by with a postie or disco in tow
