Hi All,

This is perhaps a simple question, please help me out: the rear brakes on my new bike started making a squeaky sound - the bike standing still, applying the brake lever (so this is not a brake pads rubbing noise, I figure). It seems to come from the spring that sits on the center bolt, but I'm not sure. Or might it have to do with the cable. How would I diagnose this? Should some grease be applied to the spring or something else must be done? Please advise, before I take it apart, thanks in advance,

Anton.

Try using "Tri-Flow" (bike oil) on the brake pivot points. The pivot points on the derailers should be oiled periodically also.
I'm guessing that should solve that annoining squeak.
Good luck.
