Just purchased a SRAM Force compact crankset.

Noticed later that a few teeth on the outer chainring are squared off and shorter than the others. Six teeth that seems to be at some kind of defined interval, but I may be just reaching.

Bike shop says that it is by design. No other sets available for comparison.....

Would appreciate if anyone with similar crankset check theirs for me.

Thanks.

It is by design. These are found on pretty much all modern chainrings. If the rings are not constantly skipping/mishifting, you have no problems.

Thanks, I did some more research and you are right. Installed and working fine.
