Couple of small categorized climbs in the first half of this rolling stage, but looks like a flat finish. And more rainy weather on tap. Could it be stage #2 for Robbie McEwan?

I was thinking the climbs might be enough to split the peleton which would probably mean the sprinters are out of it.

If Schumacher thrived on stage 3 it is hard to see him losing his pink jersey today.

Any of the top 5 today are possibilities unless the obligatory escape succeeds.

I agree with Virenque - i think McEwen will win todays stage too.

My outsider of outsiders bet would be - Jens Voigt - that's if he can get away.

McEwen. I don't think Pollack or Bettini can beat him in a sprint. However the dynamic of the sprint will be greatly changed without Petacchi and his lead out train, someone else is going to have to do the lead out.

I don't think that Discovery would let a CSC rider get away or get too much time tbh, DC want to be going after CSC in the TTT.

I agree - I just thought that if JV went on a flier.........that perhaps..........

DSC is now last in the TTT; CSC fifth-to-last, as I observed some time several days ago. CSC's breakaway was a good idea even if they could not go after DSC in the TTT. They could go closer to last, which would give DSC less of a strategic advantage than having so three teams in between and having DSC know more split times of CSC. And you bet that DSC will have people at points timing CSC and other teams, beyond the usual time checks.

Maybe he`s Bjarne Riis..:)

I wonder who is Maximiliano Richeze, the Argentinian? I chose him in Cycling Game because very little UCI points and he really surprised me. Two sprints, 4th and 8th place. Never heard about him before..

Pollack annoyed, Gilbert sadly boxed by Vaitkus/Bettini, which probably prevented him getting a better placing, but a great sprint, chaos!

It was a natural strategy that was required to be attempted by Riis, given that CSC was and is fifth-to-last in the TTT tomorrow. Riis had to try and improve his TTT order position relative to DSC, even if his attempt was unlikely to succeed. And Jens is the natural person to attempt the breakaway because he has done that many times in the past.

(says the man who is currently residing, err, err, at 350th odd on the cycling fantasy competition).

The reason i went for Voigt was because CSC had to try to move their team position up, so as to maximise their TTT start position.

Hey Robbie! What fun to watch him.

I didn't catch what happened to Bertagnoli... why did he DNF?

BTW, Simioni has a seriously cool paint job on his bike! Pisa bike
